VCEC"This year’s Award is of particular significance for two reasons" said AIPC President Edgar Hirt. "First, it covers the period of the past two years, since it is now a bi-annual award out of respect for the investment of time it requires from the centre clients whose assessments form the basis for the evaluation. Secondly, this is the first time in the history of the AIPC Apex Award that it has been won by a previous AIPC Apex Award winner. We therefore want to particularly commend the Vancouver Convention Centre for what is an unprecedented achievement".

The Vancouver Convention Centre, one of the world's most striking convention settings, is famous for its picturesque Five Sails. It opened as the Canada Pavilion during the 1986 World’s Fair. In 2002 and 2008, it received the AIPC Apex award as “World’s Best Convention Centre”.

Currently tripling its size, the VCC will host the 2010 TTS Congress, after serving as the International Broadcast Centre for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games.
